Holiday Workshop- Ornament Handbuilding
Join me for a beginner-friendly handbuilding workshop at Community Clay, your local studio for pottery and ceramics in Vancouver. This creative session is perfect for anyone wanting an introduction to clay, a relaxed night out, or a hands-on pottery experience with no prior experience required.
In this workshop, you’ll learn the basics of handbuilding and create either one candleholder OR 3–4 ceramic ornaments to keep.
Your workshop registration includes the materials needed for your included project, including clay, tools, underglazes, glaze and firing. If you make additional or larger pieces that you would like to keep, you’re welcome to do so for a small additional fee to help cover materials, finishing labour and kiln space.
At the beginning of the workshop, I’ll guide you through demonstrations and foundational handbuilding techniques before you begin working on your own creations. The focus is on experiencing clay, learning how it feels and exploring your creativity at your own pace.
I’ll take care of finishing, glazing and kiln firing your pieces after the workshop.
Finished pieces are typically ready for pickup within approximately 4 weeks. You’ll receive an email when your work is ready, so there is no need to check on the status of your pieces in the meantime.
During the final 20 minutes, everyone will work together to tidy their stations and help reset the studio. Teamwork makes the dream work!

Important Notes
Pottery is a multi-stage process, and I cannot guarantee that pieces will survive drying, glazing and firing. Cracking, warping, glaze variations and other unexpected results may occasionally occur. As always, it’s in the hands of the kiln gods!
By attending, you acknowledge the inherent risks associated with pottery and studio activities. You assume responsibility for yourself and your belongings while participating. Community Clay may refuse admittance or ask a participant to leave at any time if necessary for the safety or operation of the studio.
Refund / Cancellation Policy
Tickets are non-refundable. Community Clay is under no obligation to refund any portion of the workshop price if you cannot attend, choose not to attend or arrive late.
If you are unable to attend, you’re welcome to gift your registration to someone else. They may check in under your name when they arrive.
If you would prefer, you may email me and I will try to resell your spot. If the spot sells, I will refund the workshop price less a $25 administration fee. Resale is not guaranteed.
If you have any questions that are not answered above, please email me at studio@communityclay.ca.
