Throwing or hand building clay with medium plasticity that feels most smooth, slight texture. Fires to a light-medium buff colour with speckle.

This bag is 22lbs. Dry shrinkage- 6-7%, Fired shrinkage 4.7-5.5% depending on heat of the kiln. Please note that supplier changed on Feb 28, and clay sold previously is slightly different. This may or may not affect if you are joining pieces together (you may wedge different clays together with no issue.)

Mid-temperature, finely ground and smooth, very plastic, semi-vitreous, dark red-brown burning native body for functional ware. High plasticity and feels smooth (possible very slight tooth). It generates significant slip during throwing if too soft. Care and attention during drying are a must, especially with larger pieces, flat plates, shallow bowls, and sculptural ware. Put the focus is on evenness of drying rather than speed. If sections of a piece dry faster, then either slow these sections down or slow down the entire piece. Being relatively high in iron pieces will heat up in a microwave. Please test to assess suitability.

This smooth cone 5-6 body fires a dark black in oxidation. One will find great plasticity that makes a great throwing body. Prone to pinholing in dry glazes.
