Teapots are one of the most complex and rewarding forms in ceramics.
In this three-part pottery wheel workshop, participants will learn how to make a teapot from start to finish. Creating a functional teapot requires careful attention to proportion, flow, and the relationship between multiple components.
Participants will learn how to throw the vessel, construct and attach a spout and handle, and refine the form so each element works together both visually and functionally.
This workshop focuses on the process of building multi-part forms and understanding how each component contributes to a well-balanced teapot.
This workshop is designed as a development session, encouraging students to refine their techniques through repetition, observation, and thoughtful assembly.
Participants must be able to:
• Comfortably center clay
• Throw a minimum of 1.5 lb of clay with confidence
This workshop is ideal for students who have taken a beginner pottery class and want to expand their wheel throwing skills.
•Throwing a teapot body on the wheel
• Constructing and attaching a functional spout
